According to tradition, "whoever does not have a vineyard in Caillerets knows what the Volnay is worth". Qualified as "Tête de cuvée" from the 1855 classification by Doctor Lavalle, this appellation is a very example of finesse, elegance and grace. The 3.76 hectare plot of this exceptional Premier Cru has a particular value for the Maison Bouchard Père & Fils, since it is the first vine acquired by the House, in 1775. The Carnot family, who has been the owner, is always mentioned on the bottles: "Ancienne Cuvée Carnot".
