From a little-known but historically significant cru, Mauxion Lot 89 Bois Ordinaires is a rare and distinctive cognac, drawn from a single cask distilled in 1989. This lot showcases the aromatic potential of the Bois Ordinaires, a terroir often overlooked, here elevated by the expertise of Maison Mauxion.
On the nose, it reveals beautiful complexity: aromas of dried fruits, beeswax, and precious woods. The palate is silky, with notes of blond tobacco, gentle spices, and a subtle saline touch that adds depth. The finish is long, refined, and surprisingly fresh for a coastal cru.
Non-chill filtered, with no added caramel or sugar, this cask strength cognac preserves its full authenticity and richness.
The origins of the Mauxion family date back to 1575 with the birth of Pierre Mauxion in the village of Houlette. Today, the estate is still home to the Mauxion family after thirteen generations. Antoine Mauxion was the first in the family to produce eaux-de-vie, starting in 1743, and since then, ten generations have followed in his footsteps. Today, Mauxion Selection continues to uphold the original traditions in vineyard care and the production of high-class, quality eaux-de-vie.
Mauxion Selection offers a unique range of single-cru expressions, available in various formats. All cognacs produced by Mauxion Selection come from the prestigious terroirs of Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Borderies, Fins Bois, Bons Bois and Bois Ordinaires.
To preserve the pure flavor of their eaux-de-vie, Mauxion Selection cognacs are bottled at cask strength, with no blending or reduction, allowing the spirits to develop exceptional complexity and depth. While this meticulous selection process may result in limited quantities, it ensures a cognac of unmatched quality, every time.
2011 turned out to be the hottest year in France since weather records began a century ago. One of the main features of 2011 was an exceptionally warm and dry spring and fall. April and October were the hottest months on record, with April exceeding the average by more than 4.2°C. The hot, dry weather resulted in the exceptional 2011 vintage of Petite Champagne.
