The name "Vigne de l’Enfant Jesus" refers to a historical anecdote. It is said that Marguerite du Saint- Sacrement, founding Carmelite of the Servants of the Family of the Holy Child Jesus, predicted the birth of King Louis XIV of France while her mother Anne d’Autriche was sterile. At the birth of the future « Roi Soleil », this exceptional vineyard belonging to the Carmelites took the name of "Vigne de l’Enfant Jesus". In 1791, during the sale of national properties, Maison Bouchard Père & Fils acquired the plot, located in the heart of the 32 hectares of the Beaune Grèves appellation. It still has a monopoly on it today.
