Kilkerran
Kilkerran is an iconic whisky brand from Campbeltown, Scotland, produced by the Glengyle Distillery. Originally founded in 1872 by William Mitchell, Glengyle was revived in 2004 after nearly 80 years of silence. It is closely tied to the Mitchell family legacy, which also owns the renowned Springbank Distillery.
This small, artisanal distillery operates only three months a year (from October to December), producing around 30,000 litres annually. Each release is therefore rare and highly sought-after. Kilkerran is known for its traditional production methods: in-house floor malted barley, double distillation, on-site maturation and bottling, with no chill filtration or added colouring.
Kilkerran whiskies stand out for their complexity—gently peated, with saline, fruity and woody notes. The range includes the flagship Kilkerran 12 Year Old, a 16 Year Old, “Heavily Peated” editions, and limited releases aged in sherry, port or bourbon casks.
Proudly rooted in its Campbeltown heritage, Kilkerran offers a truly authentic and unstandardized approach to single malt whisky. A must for enthusiasts seeking character, rarity, and traditional craftsmanship.
