Remnant Renegade is a unique expression of a series of 4 bottlings created by distillery manager Stewart Bowman. This Arran single malt whisky is a snapshot of the evolution of the distillery's style over the years. The name refers to the "Remnant Casks" or reserve casks containing small quantities of whisky after bottling. This liquid is often forgotten, as it is insufficient for further bottling. This cuvée is a complex blend of old and young whiskies, aged in different types of sherry and bourbon casks, reflecting the subtle balance that Stewart Bowman has managed to achieve while preserving Arran's distinctive character.
The Arran House, or more precisely the Arran Distillery, is a famous whisky distillery located on the Isle of Arran in Scotland. The Arran Distillery was founded in 1995, at a time when there had been no active distillery on the Isle of Arran for over 150 years. It takes pride in using natural and local ingredients as much as possible. The purity of the water used in production, sourced from the Easan Biorach, is a key element of the whisky's quality. Arran whiskies are produced using traditional distillation methods, with copper stills and prolonged fermentation to develop complex aromas. Maturation mainly takes place in oak casks that previously held bourbon or sherry, creating rich and varied flavor profiles.
Impressively mature, this new expression is full of tertiary tones that unmistakably recall those of a much older whisky. Particularly complex and lush, it highlights an extremely rigorous cask selection process.
