This is the first finish in the Balvenie range to explore French oak. Pineau des Charentes is a fortified wine, made from unfermented grape juice, to which a Cognac eau-de-vie is added, then left to age. Finishing in Pineau barrels creates notes of grapefruit, geranium, candied fruit and ginger.

At The Balvenie, aging takes place in traditional dark and humid cellars, with low ceilings and an earth floor which provides the optimal maturation conditions to produce exceptional Single-Malts. This is why the house is recognized by all great amateurs who particularly appreciate its unique honeyed notes.
