The Publican barley used for this edition was grown in field 43ac and harvested at the end of August 2009. It was dried and stored on the farm before being malted at Alloa in 2010. The single malt comes from twenty-seven first-fill bourbon casks, distilled in December 2011. It was aged in the upper part of the cellar until 2024, before being bottled.

In 2023, with the installation of four additional fermentation vats, also made of Oregon pine, the Lochranza distillery's production capacity increased from 600,000 to 800,000 liters of pure alcohol per year. Talisker 18 years old is not the most peaty of the Talisker but is characterized by its finesse, complexity and generosity. However, the finish is particularly peaty, contrary to popular belief.
