Maison Jacques Selosse – The Avant-Garde of Terroir-Driven Champagne
A true Champagne icon, Maison Jacques Selosse stands at the pinnacle of excellence and audacity, redefining terroir-driven winemaking. Founded in 1959 in Avize, in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, the house underwent a radical transformation under Anselme Selosse, a pioneer of biodynamic farming and parcel-based vinification in Champagne. Today, his son Guillaume Selosse continues this legacy with the same dedication.
The estate spans 8 hectares, primarily in Grand Cru villages (Avize, Cramant, Oger), with a strong focus on Chardonnay, aiming to reveal the purest expression of terroir. In contrast to conventional Champagne methods, Jacques Selosse embraces techniques inspired by Burgundy: organic viticulture, fermentation in oak barrels, and extended aging on lees, resulting in wines of unparalleled depth and complexity.
Selosse champagnes are intensely expressive, boasting rich textures and a striking aromatic palette where minerality, ripe fruit, oxidative notes, and freshness harmonize. Iconic cuvées include Initial, an introduction to the Selosse universe, Substance, crafted through a solera system for extraordinary depth, and rare single-parcel expressions that pay tribute to exceptional terroirs.
Sought after by connoisseurs worldwide, Jacques Selosse is more than just Champagne—it’s an extraordinary sensory journey, an unmistakable signature that pushes the boundaries of the appellation and redefines the art of sparkling wine.
Rare Rosé Millésime 2012 perfectly balances three families of sensations: floral, fruity and spicy. Condensed with aromas and freshness, this third rosé vintage from the house adds a facet to the style of Rare Champagne.
Grand Cellier D'Or 2017 is a Champagne of remarkable finesse and precision with a blend of 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir from 50 year old Premier Cru. The wines spend 10 months aging in 228L oak pieces to bring power and complexity.
Piper-Heidsieck Essentiel Extra Brut is a multi-vintage cuvée made from 3 Champagne grape varieties. Its balance, its freshness and its beautiful structure make this Cuvée the very essence of the style of the House.
This Cuvée is made from a perpetual reserve (solera) with wines dating from 2003 to 2020 and refreshed each year with 50% of the new harvest. This « Longue Garde » version of the Cuvée Eugène demonstrates the Meunier's ability to age while retaining all its freshness and tension with aging « sur lattes » for 60 months compared to 18 months for the Cuvée Eugène.
The name "Cuvée 72" comes from 36+36, or 72 months of maturation before shipment. Aged 36 months on the lees, this cuvée will undergo an additional 36 months of maturation in our cellars after its disgorgement. Extension of the Première Cuvée, "Cuvée 72" is the composition of a solera of reserve wines with a new harvest, selection of first presses of Meunier, Chardonnay and...
