The year 2015 was declared a Veuve Clicquot vintage and became the 67th of the House since the creation of the first vintage, by Madame Clicquot in 1810. This wine reveals the flavors of an exceptional year. Eternal signature of the Vintage cuvée, the structure is angular and fleshy, the pinot noir playing its role of building. Thus, all in balance, Veuve Clicquot Vintage 2015 presents a concentrated and structured wine. The predominance of pinot noir and the subtle touch of 10% of wines aged in oak casks and prolonged aging on lees gives the power and aromatic richness so typical of the Veuve Clicquot Vintage style.
Founded in 1772, the Veuve Clicquot house is a global benchmark in the world of champagne. Based in Reims, it owes its fame to the visionary audacity of Madame Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin, known as Veuve Clicquot. A pioneer of innovation, she notably invented the riddling table, revolutionizing champagne production. Veuve Clicquot’s style is characterized by its perfect balance of power and finesse, with a predominance of Pinot Noir in its blends.
The Veuve Clicquot house was founded in 1772 by Philippe Clicquot-Muiron, who aimed to develop an export business for wines, particularly champagne. However, it was his daughter-in-law, Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin, who, widowed at just 27, took over the business in 1805.
Under her leadership, the house experienced remarkable growth thanks to her innovative spirit. She invented the riddling table, a process that clarifies wines and produces crystal-clear champagnes. Veuve Clicquot was also among the first houses to export its champagnes across Europe, especially to Russia, where it gained favor with royal courts.
