Corryvreckan, named after the famous and fearsome whirlpool off the Isle of Islay, is an Ardbeg expression that embodies the raw power and complexity of whiskies from this iconic distillery. This single malt marks a milestone in the House's technical innovation. It is the first Ardbeg made from a high-gravity mash, whose recipe dictates a much greater weight of malted barley.

The Publican barley used for this edition was grown in field 43ac and harvested at the end of August 2009. It was dried and stored on the farm before being malted at Alloa in 2010. The single malt comes from twenty-seven first-fill bourbon casks, distilled in December 2011. It was aged in the upper part of the cellar until 2024, before being bottled.
