Distilled in 1956, at the height of the Cuban pre-revolution, HOY COMO AYER embodies the golden age of Cuban rum. Aged for 67 years in the island's tropical climate, this rare single cask retains an air of mystery about its distillery of origin. It bears witness to the social and political upheavals and cultural effervescence of 1950s Cuba.
The bottle features a self-portrait of Cuban artist Aconcha. Born in Havana in 1946, her work is influenced by Santería and Afro-Cuban culture. Entitled Hoy Como Ayer (Today as Yesterday), the title of this work echoes the song sung in 1956 by the famous tenor Benny Moré. This rum is a timeless symbol of the passage of time.
