Moët & Chandon Grand Vintage Collection embodies the interpretation of a particular year by the cellar master, thus revealing the unique personality of each vintage. 1996 is the 64th vintage of Moët & Chandon since 1842. Maturity is evident with warm notes of harvest, wax, cake, or cashew nuts.
Le Bout du Clos is part of the Lieux-dits collection of Maison Jacques Selosse. It is a Champagne made from a vine planted with Pinot Noir for 80% and 20% Chardonnay, both coming from the Village of Ambonnay, classified Grand Cru.
This Cuvée is made from a perpetual reserve (solera) with wines dating from 2003 to 2020 and refreshed each year with 50% of the new harvest. This « Longue Garde » version of the Cuvée Eugène demonstrates the Meunier's ability to age while retaining all its freshness and tension with aging « sur lattes » for 60 months compared to 18 months for the Cuvée Eugène.
This cuvée comes only from the village of Villers Allerand, precisely from the hamlet of the village of Montchenot which has the particularity of being the junction village between the small mountain and the big mountain, and shares the geology of the two regions (sand, clay and chalk).
This vintage is perfectly balanced, creating a harmonious Cristal. The year 2016 unexpectedly brought a superb balance to Cristal, blending its bright, vibrant character with its grounded, earthy side. The Abyss cuvée is a very unique Champagne which has aged underwater for 1 year. These special aging conditions highlight during the tasting a mineral and chalky signature, reflecting the great terroirs of Champagne.
