The second wine of the famous Château Lafite Rothschild enjoys an excellent, well-deserved reputation. Its appellation comes from the "plateau des Carruades" plots acquired in 1985, adjacent to the estate. This wine is mainly composed of Cabernet Sauvignon (up to 70% depending on the year), with a significant proportion of Merlot (between 30% and 50% depending on the vintage) and a small proportion of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Aged for 18 to 20 months in the same barrels as the château's main wine from the previous year, it displays impressive concentration and remarkable aromatic complexity. Although very tannic in its youth, its solid structure allows for prolonged aging. This wine surpasses many other Médoc crus classés in quality.
